Principal AI Infrastructure Readiness Architect

Overview

In this role you ensure AI workloads have a real, ready foundation by assessing and shaping physical facilities for high-density deployments. You work with global service providers, OEMs, and partners to validate power, cooling, and space constraints across brownfield and greenfield sites. You influence capital decisions and provide guidance from concept to handoff, shaping reference architectures and modular designs. This hands-on, field-facing role combines engineering depth with strategic impact to enable scalable AI readiness.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate data center readiness for high-density AI deployments (power, cooling, layout, compliance).
• Lead greenfield and brownfield assessments to decide build vs retrofit strategy and design approaches.
• Collaborate with OEMs, facility owners, and partners to align designs with AI workload demands and site limitations.
• Guide and review data center designs focusing on MEP and construction permitting across regions.
• Shape and validate modular data center designs and pod configurations for scalable AI growth.
• Develop and maintain reference architectures, playbooks, and BOM templates for site readiness and modular deployments.
• Conduct site audits and end-to-end readiness reviews to assess capability, cost, and timeline risk.
• Stay current on international codes, energy efficiency, and data center compliance in EU/UK/ME.
• Contribute to Statements of Work, pre-sales proposals, and enablement on infrastructure design best practices.

Key requirements

• 10+ years in data center engineering, infrastructure architecture, or related roles
• Experience with data center buildouts or retrofits, AI infrastructure, HPC, or modular designs
• Strong knowledge of MEP, utility coordination, and permitting across regions
• Understanding of power delivery, cooling (liquid and air), rack layouts, and high-density compute
• Experience with AI infrastructure and systems (e.g., NVIDIA/H100/H200, AMD Instinct, DGX pods) or equivalent
• Familiarity with global building codes and data center regulations (EU, UK, ME, etc.)
• Experience working with construction partners, colocation providers, or modular DC vendors
• Ability to lead end-to-end infrastructure evaluations from concept to handoff
• Confident on-site with customers and executives; strong communication
• Familiarity with site audit tooling, Digital Twins, Visio/CAD, and BOM estimation (a plus)
