Senior Mechanical Engineer

Overview

In questa role you will lead the mechanical design and delivery of water sector projects, from feasibility to construction, within Arup’s Water team. You will guide multidisciplinary teams, engage with clients, and drive efficient, high-quality outcomes on water and wastewater facilities, pumping systems and pipework. You’ll use BIM and Plant 3D to enhance project results and contribute to bid activity and knowledge sharing. Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design and delivery of water sector projects from feasibility through construction
• Provide technical direction to multidisciplinary teams
• Oversee and mentor junior engineers and technicians
• Engage directly with clients to meet requirements, manage timelines and budgets
• Contribute to work-winning activities including bids and client meetings
• Utilise BIM and Plant 3D to enhance project outcomes
• Promote technical rigour, efficiency and innovation within the team

Key requirements

• Proven experience delivering mechanical designs in the water utilities sector (treatment facilities and pumping systems)
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with IMechE or progressing toward chartership
• Knowledge of current mechanical design standards in the UK water industry
• Proficiency in digital design tools (BIM, Plant 3D)
• Clear communication within multidisciplinary teams
• Results-oriented with ability to manage priorities and deliver on time
