Senior Backend Software Engineer

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and optimisation of backend services in Python and Rust
• Architect scalable, distributed systems to meet platform needs
• Enhance reliability with robust monitoring and alerting
• Promote code quality, testing, and CI/CD best practices
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams on complex projects
• Mentor engineers and foster technical excellence
• Drive technical decision-making and backend evolution
• Ensure performance and stability of critical services with forward-looking improvements

Key requirements

• 6+ years of software engineering, focused on backend systems
• Familiarity with Python or at least one compiled language (Java, C++, Rust, Go) and interest in Rust
• Experience designing/building distributed systems in cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or similar)
• Strong DevOps knowledge and tools, including GitLab and Kubernetes
• Experience with message queues (e.g., Kafka) and relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL)
• Bonus: experience in Sports Betting or Finance
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration
