Head of Delivery

Overview

In this role you will lead the Capital Programme’s construction delivery, guiding projects from supplier selection through to occupancy. You will shape delivery standards, safety culture, and seamless handovers to operations, ensuring regulatory compliance and high-quality outcomes. You’ll collaborate with cross‑functional teams to align with UCL’s campus experience goals and masterplan, driving measurable progress and learning across the programme. This is a pivotal role for delivering world‑class spaces that support students, academics and staff.

Responsibilities

• Set and lead delivery standards for capital works across projects
• Foster a safe, respectful work environment and high-quality campus interface
• Ensure regulatory compliance and robust inspection regimes
• Define delivery model and ensure world-class quality outcomes
• Oversee handover to operations and engagement with end users
• Oversee project reporting from programmatic and resourcing perspectives
• Lead HSE reporting, incident investigation, and lessons learned cascade
• Work with UCL standards and health & safety teams to close gaps
• Identify and bridge skills gaps within the Capital Programme team
• Assess training needs and propose targeted development
• Collaborate with Capital Programme Assistant Directors and UPOs on project delivery

Key requirements

• Delivery leadership experience on complex construction projects
• Strong focus on safety culture and HSE practices
• Ability to establish interfaces with public realm and campus experience
• Experience in regulatory compliance and quality assurance
• Proven track record in project reporting and lifecycle management
• Stakeholder engagement with operations, academic occupants and neighbours
• Competency assessment and training planning
• Knowledge of RAMS, CPPs and site safety inspections
• Ability to drive continuous improvement in delivery processes
