Civil Engineer (Highway / Drainage)

Overview

In this role you will design highway and drainage solutions for development projects, delivering compliant, practical infrastructure. You will work within a civil engineering team to assess, coordinate and explain technical designs to clients and stakeholders. You’ll manage projects to ensure timely, high-quality delivery while staying aligned with industry standards. You will contribute to innovative, sustainable transport solutions and stay current with best practices in the field.

Responsibilities

• Design highway and drainage systems to support S104, S38, and S278 applications
• Perform technical assessments for new developments
• Provide guidance to junior staff and clients
• Review documents and drawings produced by juniors
• Present technical information to stakeholders
• Manage projects to ensure quality, on-time delivery, and adherence to specs
• Regularly update progress and coordinate with Project Managers
• Ensure compliance with industry standards throughout project life cycle
• Stay updated with industry trends and innovations

Key requirements

• 2 years’ experience in UK development-related infrastructure engineering
• Experience in preparing highways or drainage designs (S38, S278, S104)
• Background in flood risk assessments or drainage strategies
• Proficient in drainage design principles and Microdrainage and/or Causeway Flow
• Degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering
• Understanding of UK design standards (DMRB, Manual for Streets, Sewers for Adoption, national planning policies)
• AutoCAD and Civils 3D proficiency
• Full UK driving licence
• Right to work in the UK
