Overview
As a Solicitor in our Commercial & Public Sector team, you will advise public and private sector clients on commercial contracts, public procurement, Subsidy Control, and grant funding. You will work closely with colleagues nationwide, handle complex contracts, and help develop key client relationships. You will contribute to strategic advice and delivery on large-scale funding and procurement projects. This role combines client engagement, technical development, and opportunities to progress within a growing national practice.

Responsibilities
- Advise on public procurement, commercial contracts, grant funding arrangements and Subsidy Control compliance for public and private sector clients
- Draft, review and advise on complex contracts including grant funding agreements and procurement documents
- Engage directly with clients, attend meetings, and contribute to long-term relationships
- Collaborate with national colleagues across DWF’s commercial team
- Support business development and knowledge sharing within the team
- Manage a varied caseload with competing deadlines while maintaining high service standards
- Continuously develop technical expertise and stay updated on public procurement, Subsidy Control, and public funding developments
Key requirements
- Qualified solicitor with experience in commercial contracts
- Genuine interest in developing expertise in public procurement, grant funding and Subsidy Control law
- Strong client engagement, business development and ability to build a public sector profile
- Excellent drafting and written communication skills with negotiation confidence
- Commercially minded with ability to understand clients’ objectives
- Proven ability to build strong client and colleague relationships
- Self-motivated, performance-driven, and capable of delivering high-quality legal advice
