Overview

As a Responsible Mechanical Engineer at Huntsman Wilton you will safeguard the safe, reliable operation of key production assets within a COMAH top-tier environment. You will be the mechanical authority on site, shaping asset integrity, maintenance governance, and long-term reliability strategies. The role offers visibility and impact across maintenance, CAPEX projects, and plant improvements. You will work with cross-functional teams to drive safer, cost-effective operations and asset health at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain mechanical and pressure systems in compliance with legal, company, and industry standards
  • Define maintenance strategies balancing integrity, reliability, and cost
  • Act as Design Authority for mechanical aspects of CAPEX and site projects
  • Develop detailed work scopes and specifications for major overhauls and shutdowns
  • Own and maintain functional technical data in the site registry
  • Provide functional leadership to engineering, maintenance, and contractor resources
  • Develop asset life plans and identify repair/refurbishment/replacement needs
  • Optimize spares strategy and inventory to ensure availability while controlling costs
  • Drive mechanical engineering improvement plans and embed best practices
  • Manage engineering and maintenance budget aligned with site objectives

Key requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline), or equivalent hands-on experience
  • 15+ years of experience in chemical, petrochemical, or COMAH environments
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical equipment and rotating machinery
  • Knowledge of pressure systems and Fitness for Service concepts
  • Maintenance and reliability engineering best practices
  • Experience with SAP or similar maintenance systems
  • Track record of contributing to CAPEX projects and plant reliability initiatives
  • Membership (or eligibility) of a relevant professional engineering body
  • Strong technical authority and decision-making confidence
  • Structured, analytical mindset with risk management focus
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaborate across global teams
