Associate Director, Indirect Tax – Real Estate, Financial Investors

Overview

In this role you lead VAT strategy and execution for Deloitte’s Financial Investors team, guiding high‑value private equity and real estate transactions. You’ll work with cross‑functional colleagues to shape advisory outcomes and deepen client relationships, supporting growth of a key practice area. You’ll manage transaction‑related VAT issues, fund structures, and deal costs while developing talent and contributing to market expansion. Responsibilities

• Lead VAT input on major transaction support engagements (buy-side, sell-side, carve-outs, restructurings)
• Provide end-to-end VAT advice for clients and portfolios of investee businesses
• Advise private capital clients on VAT recovery, fund structures, and day-to-day compliance
• Review contracts and agreements to identify UK VAT implications for commercial decisions
• Steer day-to-day team delivery on engagements and balance transaction work with advisory
• Deepen client relationships and contribute to winning new work
• Mentor Analysts and Consultants with hands-on guidance
• Contribute to development of new market opportunities and potential market leadership in ideas
• Collaborate with colleagues across the firm to shape team culture and inclusive practices
• Support broader firm initiatives in growth and cross‑office collaboration

Key requirements

• CTA or equivalent qualification
• Relevant experience in practice, industry, or with HMRC
• Excellent client-facing and relationship-building skills with commercial awareness
