Overview

Senior Smoke Ventilation Design Engineer role at WR HVAC | M&E, focusing on the design, estimation and technical development of mechanical and natural smoke ventilation for residential and mixed-use developments. You will work with fire engineers and project teams to deliver compliant smoke control solutions and support design, Gateway 2 compliance and project delivery. The role offers exposure to complex life-safety systems on high-profile schemes and ongoing professional development. Based in Essex with occasional site visits, you will shape safe, scalable ventilation solutions that meet regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

• design smoke ventilation and smoke control systems
• develop and produce project costings/estimates
• coordinate with fire engineers, consultants and project teams
• interpret fire strategies, CFD outputs and architectural drawings
• support Gateway 2 submissions and project delivery
• prepare tender submissions and technical proposals

Key requirements

• proven experience designing smoke ventilation or smoke control systems
• experience with smoke shafts, corridor ventilation and stair pressurisation
• interpretation of fire strategies, CFD outputs and drawings
• preparing estimates, quotations and tender submissions
• strong understanding of smoke control standards and regulations
• proficiency with AutoCAD or similar design software
• strong technical communication and coordination skills
