Digital Surveyor

Overview

Join GHD’s Advisory Data & Insights team as a Digital Surveyor, using drones, laser scanning and digital twin tech to deliver high-quality site intelligence. You will work across sectors such as rail, water and energy, turning survey data into immersive digital environments. You’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and clients to shape practical solutions and drive business growth. This role combines field surveying, data processing and advanced visualization in a supportive, adventurous culture.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct drone-based site surveys across diverse environments
• Capture high-resolution spatial data with UAS and GNSS equipment
• Capture terrestrial laser scan data
• Post-process data to create photogrammetry models, point clouds, and spatial references
• Integrate processed data into the proprietary digital twin platform
• Explore and implement VR/AR solutions to enrich workflows and client engagement
• Communicate findings clearly to varied audiences and tailor outputs to client needs
• Support business growth by identifying opportunities and contributing to bids
• Innovate survey techniques to improve data quality and meet evolving client needs

Key requirements

• Honours degree in a relevant field
• Experience with GIS, CAD or BIM systems
• Familiarity with spatial data capture equipment (total stations, GNSS rovers, laser scanners)
• Experience operating drones/UAS for surveying
• GVC holding is highly desirable
• Driving license and willingness to travel between sites
• Strong communication and client-facing skills
• Consulting mindset and ability to contribute to project planning and delivery
