Overview
In this Senior Research Scientist role, you lead high-impact AI safety research within Faculty’s R&D program. You will shape and advance the safety research agenda, collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams, and publish findings that guide safe deployment of frontier AI. You’ll manage red-teaming and evaluations for high-risk domains, partnering with government and industry to influence real-world safety practices. This is an opportunity to drive meaningful scientific and practical outcomes in a leading safety-focused group.
Responsibilities
- Own and drive high-impact AI safety research themes
- Contribute to Faculty’s AI safety research agenda and thought leadership
- Shape research priorities balancing scientific and practical needs
- Lead technical research from concept to publication
- Support delivery of red-teaming evaluations in high-risk domains (CBRN, cybersecurity) with government and commercial partners
Key requirements
- Track record of high-impact AI research with top-tier publications or equivalent experience
- Applied AI safety experience from labs, academia, or evaluation/red-teaming roles
- Deep domain knowledge in language models and generative AI architectures, incl. fine-tuning beyond API
- Practical ML experience focusing on robustness, explainability, or uncertainty estimation
- Proficiency with PyTorch, TensorFlow, or similar; familiarity with HuggingFace ecosystem
- Demonstrable Python engineering experience for robust research projects
- Ability to conduct and oversee complex technical research projects; strong verbal and written communication skills
