TEAM LEADER ECOLOGY – Southampton

Overview

In this role you lead and grow the Southampton ecology team, guiding complex ecological projects from appraisal to final outputs. You balance hands-on technical delivery with leadership and commercial activity to shape bids and ensure regulatory and quality standards. You represent the region within the national Nature team and contribute to strategic growth. Your impact includes strengthening client relationships, raising standards, and delivering sustainable, evidence‑based ecological solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the ecology team: mentoring, timesheets, and professional growth
• Engage with clients to win and retain work and position the firm as a trusted ecological adviser
• Take an active role on projects, guiding junior project managers and ensuring timely, robust delivery
• Provide high‑level ecological input (EcIA, HRA, EIA) and quality‑assure outputs; contribute to inquiries and expert witness work
• Identify and pursue commercial opportunities; contribute to bids and strategic development of the Nature department
• Represent the region within Tetra Tech’s national Nature team and support regional growth

Key requirements

• Degree in a relevant discipline
• Full CIEEM membership; Chartered Ecologist or Chartered Environmentalist preferred
• Proven ecological consultancy experience
• Commercial awareness
• Full driving licence
• Demonstrable leadership capability
