Bid Manager – Civil Engineering

Overview

In this role you will lead design management on civil engineering projects across Scotland, coordinating information release, drawings, design workshops and design packages. You will work with clients and project teams to mitigate risk, ensure compliance, and promote modern construction methods. You will monitor design programmes, drive buildability and quality improvements, and chair design coordination meetings. This is a chance to shape delivery on high-profile projects with an established contractor delivering long-term work.

Responsibilities

• Manage design information release, production and approval of drawings
• Chair design workshops and design coordination meetings
• Coordinate complex design packages and validate design details
• Provide expert guidance and technical support to clients and project teams
• Identify and mitigate design risks and ensure compliance with statutory, legal, and planning requirements
• Promote adoption of modern methods of construction (MMC)
• Review and manage design programmes; monitor via trackers and progress meetings
• Identify opportunities with project teams, consultants and supply chain to improve safety, buildability, quality and value
• Organise design risk assessments and ensure they are produced

Key requirements

• Degree-educated in civil engineering
• Chartered Engineer is preferred
• Experience in design/engineering management of civil infrastructure and buildings
• Knowledge of design office work processes and design delivery coordination
• Experience with MEP, Fire and Security, MEICA is advantageous
• Knowledge of design procedures and standards
• Experience on energy networks or HVDC schemes is a plus
• Ability to work in a collaborative multidisciplinary team environment
