Senior Town Planner

Overview

In this Senior Town Planner role you help shape development opportunities by delivering strategic planning advice and leading planning processes. You will work with a cross-functional team to manage residential and mixed-use projects, from early strategy to determination. The role sits at a forward-thinking consultancy, offering exposure to high-impact schemes across the North West and UK. You will drive scalable planning submissions, engage with Local Planning Authorities, and support clients with commercially focused guidance.

Responsibilities

• Providing strategic planning advice to clients on development opportunities and planning risk
• Preparing and reviewing planning appraisals, planning statements and supporting documentation
• Developing and implementing planning strategies for residential and mixed-use developments
• Managing planning applications from inception through to determination
• Leading pre-application discussions and engaging proactively with Local Planning Authorities
• Coordinating multidisciplinary consultant teams and ensuring planning submissions are delivered effectively

Key requirements

• A degree in Town Planning or a closely related discipline
• MRTPI status, or working towards chartership
• Significant experience within a planning consultancy, developer or related environment
• Strong knowledge of the UK planning system and current planning policy
• Experience managing planning applications and projects from inception through to determination
• Experience within the residential development sector advantageous
• Strong report-writing and communication skills
• Ability to interpret planning policy and provide clear, commercially focused advice
• Excellent project management and organisational skills
• Confidence dealing with clients, planning officers and multidisciplinary teams
