Construction Planning Manager

In this Planning Manager role, you lead planning across pre-construction for Smartspace national projects, shaping delivery strategies for CAT A/B fit-outs and refurbishments. You will partner with Pre-Construction, Commercial, Design and Operations to create robust programmes aligned with client expectations. The position offers influence over planning standards, tender support, and guiding teams through complex sequencing. Responsibilities

• Lead planning activities across all pre-construction opportunities within the national team
• Develop tender and pre-construction programmes for CAT A/B fit-out and refurbishment projects
• Support bid teams with programme narratives, sequencing methodologies and construction strategies
• Contribute to tender interviews and client presentations to demonstrate delivery capability
• Assess risks, constraints and opportunities during the tender stage and craft mitigation plans
• Create and maintain detailed project programmes using recognised software
• Ensure programmes reflect scope, procurement, design development and construction methods
• Establish critical paths, milestones and key deliverables; monitor performance and report to stakeholders
• Collaborate with design, commercial, operational and client teams to deliver integrated planning solutions
• Champion best practice planning standards and mentor junior planners

Key requirements

• Significant experience in a Planning Manager, Senior Planner or Lead Planner role
• Proven track record in the construction industry
• Experience delivering CAT A/B office fit-out and commercial refurbishment projects
• Strong pre-construction planning, tender programmes and sequencing knowledge
• Experience supporting bid submissions and developing construction methodologies
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
• Degree, HNC or HND in Construction Management, Engineering or related discipline
• Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6 and/or Asta Powerproject
• Knowledge of NEC and JCT contracts (advantageous)
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
