Civil Engineer – Buildings

Overview

In this Civil Engineer role within Stantec’s Buildings team, you help deliver infrastructure designs for diverse building developments across the UK. You work in an integrated, multidisciplinary environment to shape sustainable communities and support project delivery from feasibility to completion. You’ll own design tasks while coordinating with civil, structural, MEP, environmental and transportation colleagues to create integrated solutions. Responsibilities

• Deliver civil engineering designs for various building developments
• Design highways, access roads, external works and utility infrastructure
• Develop surface water and foul water drainage strategies using SuDS
• Produce engineering calculations, reports, specifications and drawings
• Utilise Civil 3D, InfoDrainage, Causeway Flow and AutoCAD for solutions
• Support Flood Risk Assessments and drainage strategies
• Liaise with local authorities and external stakeholders
• Coordinate designs with multidisciplinary teams for integrated solutions
• Apply CDM 2015 to manage design risks
• Attend client meetings, design reviews and site visits
• Support project delivery to programme, budget and quality
• Mentor and share knowledge within the Civil Engineering team

Key requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
• Experience delivering civil engineering design in a consultancy
• Experience on building developments across sectors (commercial, residential, education, healthcare, industrial, mixed-use)
• Knowledge of highways, drainage, external works and utility design
• Experience using Civil 3D, InfoDrainage, Causeway Flow, AutoCAD or similar
• Understanding of UK design standards, approval processes and legislation
• Appreciation of SuDS, flood risk and climate resilience
• Knowledge of CDM 2015 and design risk management
• Excellent communication and relationship-building with clients and teams
• Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver projects
• Working towards or holding Incorporated/Chartered Engineer status with ICE or similar
