Overview
In this role you will lead and shape the estimating function for high‑profile defence projects, working within Turner & Townsend’s estimating team to drive accurate cost plans and winning bids. You will collaborate with clients and other consultants, promoting best practice and supporting departmental objectives. The position offers exposure to major programmes, opportunities to develop new business, and to mentor staff while upholding security and due diligence in a sensitive environment. This is a chance to influence outcomes on significant UK defence initiatives and contribute to a high‑impact, cross‑functional team.
Responsibilities
- Lead the production of accurate, comprehensive estimates and cost plans for projects/programmes
- Promote estimating best practices and contribute to departmental objectives
- Stay updated on developments in estimating and related techniques
- Support or lead bids for new work and develop client engagement
- Provide direction and mentorship to staff; act as role model
- Interface with clients and other consultants across project stages
- Identify and pursue cross-selling opportunities and new business
- Manage staff when appropriate and contribute to knowledge management
Key requirements
- Proven estimating leadership experience
- Defence sector estimating experience
- Qualified to high standard in Estimating or Quantity Surveying with relevant experience
- Experience with estimating software packages
- Desirable membership of RICS / CIOB / A Cost E.
- Experience on major programmes and projects
