Overview
In this role you lead and develop a team of financial-crime investigators to uphold high investigation quality, regulatory compliance, and timely reporting. You will collaborate with Compliance, Risk, Legal and external regulators, acting as a senior escalation point for complex investigations. The role combines people leadership with hands-on regulatory response and risk mitigation in a fast-paced cross-border environment. You will shape investigations workflows and contribute to growth initiatives within FIU.

Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of financial-crime investigators with clear standards for quality and compliance
- Prioritize workload, balance routine investigations with urgent escalations and regulatory deadlines
- Ensure adherence to AML/CTF and other financial crime regulations; prepare and submit regulatory reports
- Serve as senior escalation point for high-risk, time-sensitive investigations involving UK/EU entities
- Provide training on compliance policies and regulatory requirements to staff
- Facilitate workshops, provide status updates, and lead compliance meetings
- Respond to AML inquiries from external sources; support subpoenas, audits, and exams
- Act as subject-matter expert for UK/EU financial-crime investigations; advise on standards, risk indicators, escalation
- Identify risks and mitigation strategies; contribute to growth initiatives like mentoring and recruitment
- Support miscellaneous projects and duties as assigned
Key requirements
- 5+ years in the compliance field (preferably second-line or holistic function)
- 2+ years of managerial experience
- Experience leading and coaching a Compliance team
- Strong ability to manage escalations and make independent decisions
- Investigation experience within a financial institution
- Solid understanding of AML/CTF and broader financial crime regulatory requirements
- Confident communicating with senior stakeholders
- Ability to manage high-risk, sensitive, time-critical investigations
- Strong decision-making, prioritisation, and stakeholder management
- Experience preparing reports for audits, exams, subpoenas, or regulatory requests
