Overview

As Senior Tax Manager in EY’s Private Client team, you will oversee a diverse portfolio of high‑net‑worth clients with US/UK tax affairs, driving compliant, high‑quality advisory and reporting. You’ll mentor junior staff, manage workflows and billing, and collaborate with senior colleagues across EY’s cross‑border network to deliver integrated tax solutions. You’ll handle complex tax issues (estate, IHT, gift tax, corporate tax) and know when to involve specialists, while safeguarding confidentiality andEY standards. This role offers exposure to challenging advisory work, leadership development, and potential progression toward Director, supported by a global, values‑driven culture.

Responsibilities

  • Manage an allocated portfolio of clients with high service standards
  • Plan, delegate, and oversee work to meet deadlines and quality
  • Lead billing process and coordinate with Credit Control for prompt payments
  • Conduct complex final reviews to ensure accuracy and manage risk
  • Sign off completed US/UK tax returns as agreed with senior staff
  • Provide coaching and performance feedback to junior team members
  • Support staff development and manage performance issues with HR guidance
  • Ensure compliance work meets EY standards and minimises risk
  • Model EY values and maintain confidentiality and professionalism
  • Collaborate across teams to ensure smooth operation of the practice

Key requirements

  • ATT qualified and authorised to practice US tax (EA or CPA)
  • CTA qualification desirable but not essential
  • Significant tax experience at a similar level in a professional practice
  • Proven ability to deliver high‑quality client service both in person and remotely
  • Strong technical experience across US/UK tax returns and related areas
  • Experience advising non‑domiciled individuals and high‑net-worth clients
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and relationship management skills
  • Ability to manage complex workstreams and deliver under pressure
  • Experience in billing and managing financial performance
  • Skilled in leading and developing junior team members
  • Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and analytical with IT skills
  • Confident in managing client relationships and influencing when needed
