Overview

As Technical Sales Manager for the South West, you drive specification-led sales for Unistrut and related brands, developing projects from concept through order. You’ll manage distributor and contractor relationships, shape regional growth plans, and collaborate across the sales organisation to ensure successful market execution. You work on high-impact projects in construction and industrial sectors, combining technical know-how with commercial discipline to protect margins. This role offers influence across design, procurement, and installation phases, with a clear path to growth within a national sales framework.

Responsibilities

  • Develop project specifications with consultants, contractors and end users
  • Track opportunities using Salesforce and market intelligence
  • Manage full project lifecycle from specification to distributor fulfilment
  • Convert pipeline opportunities through proactive follow-up
  • Develop regional Unistrut stockist accounts and provide training and support
  • Build regional growth plans for key accounts
  • Maintain commercial discipline to protect margins and strengthen routes to market
  • Build relationships with Tier 1–Tier 3 contractors and influence purchasing decisions
  • Collaborate with regional managers on shared opportunities and with vertical specialists to maximise influence
  • Maintain accurate Salesforce data and use Power BI/Excel for forecasting and opportunity assessment
  • Improve regional margin through informed pricing decisions
  • Provide regular pipeline and activity updates
  • Support nationally aligned initiatives and continuous improvement projects

Key requirements

  • Field-based sales experience in construction, M&E, distribution or technical environments
  • Experience developing specifications and managing contractor/distributor relationships
  • Understanding of commercial structures, pricing and negotiation
  • Knowledge of project lifecycle and specification-led sales process
  • Ability to build relationships quickly at all levels
  • Strong planning, organisation and time management
  • Effective communicator with influencing skills
  • Data-led decision making and performance improvement
  • Experience in industrial manufacturing is essential
  • Willingness to travel nationally and hold a full UK driving licence
  • Sales experience with OEMs is advantageous
