Civil Design Engineer

Overview

As a Civil Design Engineer in the water sector, you will design and deliver civil infrastructure for water and wastewater projects within a fast-paced, essential services environment. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure buildable, cost-efficient and sustainable designs while maintaining regulatory compliance and CDM standards. This long-term contract offers scope to influence design methods, coordinate documentation, and support construction through queries and RFIs. A chance to apply your technical craft in a critical utility setting with hybrid London work arrangements.

Responsibilities

• Produce, review and develop civil designs for water and wastewater infrastructure
• Prepare design calculations, drawings, and specifications aligned to industry and regulatory standards
• Support feasibility assessments and early-stage technical input
• Collaborate with process, mechanical, electrical, and delivery teams
• Ensure designs emphasize buildability, cost efficiency, safety and sustainability
• Coordinate design documentation across the project lifecycle
• Provide technical support during construction, addressing design queries and RFIs
• Assist with CDM and water sector standards compliance
• Contribute to continuous improvement of design methods and processes

Key requirements

• Civil Design Engineer experience in water, utilities, or infrastructure
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil3D, MicroDrainage (or similar)
• Knowledge of water and wastewater infrastructure, pipelines, pumping stations
• Strong technical reporting and drawing production skills
• Experience in multidisciplinary project environments
• Effective communication and collaborative mindset
