Children’s Community Carer – Surrey

Overview

In this role you will provide safe, child-centered care in children’s homes and community settings, cooperating with families and clinical teams. You adapt to changing needs to support wellbeing, comfort, and independence for children with complex medical needs. You will engage in safeguarding, record-keeping, and multidisciplinary collaboration, contributing to a compassionate, high-quality care culture. Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, effective community-based care as delegated by the Named Nurse
• Identify safeguarding concerns and follow procedures
• Maintain competencies in clinical skills and emergency procedures
• Support learning, development, and wellbeing of children with families and colleagues
• Monitor and document child condition, take action as needed
• Attend mandatory training, supervision, and team sessions; complete HCRG Care Certificate if required
• Follow infection control, confidentiality, and health & safety procedures
• Communicate effectively with children, families, and professionals; adapt to barriers
• Participate in team meetings and maintain accurate records; contribute to a supportive team culture

Key requirements

• Understanding of the impact of caring for children with complex medical needs at home
• Ability to train new staff in various settings
• Willingness to progress towards the Competency Framework teaching section
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to relate well to children and families
• A full driving licence and access to a car for work purposes
