Site Engineer

Overview

In this role you will help deliver large-scale earthworks for HS2, focusing on setting-out, drainage and structures with on-site QA and documentation. You will work closely with survey teams and Section Engineers to plan and coordinate activities, ensuring safety, environmental controls and HS2 compliance. This hands-on role offers strong progression toward the Project Engineer level within a major civil engineering programme. The opportunity combines practical field delivery with digital and GPS-enabled methods to drive accurate, schedule-aligned earthworks. You will join a high-profile project and contribute to a safe, well-documented, quality-driven execution.

Responsibilities

• Setting-out for earthworks, drainage, utilities, and structures
• Daily QA checks, ITPs, as-built records, and technical documentation
• Supporting Section Engineers/Sub Agents with planning and coordination
• Working closely with survey teams and GPS machine control systems
• Ensuring compliance with HS2 specifications, environmental controls, and safety standards
• Contributing to progress reporting and short-term planning

Key requirements

• Degree/HND in Civil Engineering or similar
• Experience in earthworks, highways, or heavy civils
• Strong understanding of digital engineering and GPS equipment
• Ability to work across multiple work fronts in a fast-paced environment
