Health and Safety Manager Required in Essex

Overview

As Health and Safety Manager you will lead and continuously improve the company’s SHEQ framework across high-end fit-out, refurbishment and larger data centre projects. You will act as the principal advisor on safety, quality and environmental matters, shaping a proactive safety culture. You’ll develop and maintain procedures, oversee audits and incident investigations, and drive compliance with ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001. This role partners with site teams and Directors to deliver safer, compliant projects while enabling operational efficiency. Responsibilities

• Lead and continually improve the company’s SHEQ strategy
• Advise site teams, Directors and Contracts Managers on SHEQ matters
• Develop, implement and maintain health and safety procedures
• Own the company’s SHEQ function
• Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses
• Supervise Phase Plans, RAMS and site-specific safety docs
• Conduct regular site inspections and audits
• Keep policies and management systems up to date
• Oversee site audits, incident investigations and corrective actions
• Support site teams on SHEQ matters
• Manage SHEQ training and competency
• Support risk management, continuous improvement and reporting on SHEQ performance
• Identify and implement digital systems that improve SHEQ reporting, document control and efficiency
• Lead and maintain ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 systems

Key requirements

• NVQ Level 6 Occupational Health & Safety
• Valid NEBOSH Construction Certificate
• Chartered IOSH or CertIOSH membership
• Valid CSCS Card and full UK driving licence
• Good working knowledge of construction legislation
• Experience with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001
• Strong communication, leadership and problem-solving skills
