Head of Finance

Overview

In this Head of Finance role, you will lead MPB’s finance function, ensuring robust financial control, compliance and reporting as the company scales. You will partner with senior stakeholders to translate financial data into actionable insights and drive continuous improvement, automation and operational excellence. This is a hands-on leadership position combining technical accounting expertise with people-focused leadership. You will play a central role in shaping the future finance capability and supporting board-level reporting. Responsibilities

• Oversee financial control, governance, compliance and reporting across entities
• Lead and develop a high-performing finance team (reporting, tax, accounting, finance projects)
• Build a culture of accountability and continuous capability development
• Manage month-end and year-end close processes and ensure timely, accurate reporting
• Own relationships with external auditors and support audit processes
• Ensure tax compliance and payroll oversight across multiple jurisdictions
• Partner with VP, Finance on board reporting, operational delivery and strategic priorities
• Drive process improvement with emphasis on automation, scalability and AI-enabled ways of working
• Standardise financial workflows to enhance efficiency and reduce risk
• Foster cross-functional partnerships to improve financial understanding and commercial awareness
• Collaborate with FP&A and business stakeholders on budgeting, forecasting and performance

Key requirements

• Experience leading and developing high-performing finance teams
• Hands-on, proactive leadership with strong organisational skills
• ACA or ACCA qualification
• Senior finance/controllership experience in a multi-entity business
• Strong technical accounting knowledge in complex group structures
• Experience owning month-end/year-end close processes
• Experience managing external audits and compliance
• Strong commercial awareness and ability to translate data into insight
• ERP experience (NetSuite, Oracle or SAP)
• Advanced Excel skills
• Interest in process improvement, automation and AI-enabled working
• Experience in ecommerce/online retail is a plus
