Quantity Surveyor – structural steel

Overview

As a Quantity Surveyor with structural steel expertise, you will own the commercial performance of live projects from award to final account. You’ll collaborate with project teams, estimators and clients to protect margins and drive profitable delivery. This role offers direct involvement with substantial structural steel projects and a clear opportunity to influence commercial outcomes within a well-established contractor. You will shape contracts, cost control, and variation management in a hands-on environment.

Responsibilities

• Own the commercial performance of live structural steel projects from contract award through to final account
• Manage valuations, payments, variations, change control and final accounts
• Review contracts, drawings and specifications to identify commercial risks and opportunities
• Collaborate with project managers and site teams to align costs, margins and delivery
• Challenge costs and variations to protect the commercial position
• Build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and internal teams across the project lifecycle

Key requirements

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within structural steelwork
• Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication and erection
• Experience managing live construction projects commercially
• Experience with valuations, variations, applications, cost control and final accounts
• Ability to understand drawings, specifications and contract documentation
• Strong commercial awareness and understanding of project margins
• Based in London or within a realistic daily commute
