Front-End Engineer

Overview

As a Front-End Engineer at Smarkets, you design, develop, and maintain web and mobile interfaces that power our trading platform. You’ll work closely with product, design, and engineering to deliver responsive, high-performance experiences aligned with our roadmap. You’ll translate designs from Figma into polished UI and contribute to code quality, performance, and CI/CD improvements. This role offers scope to shape the user experience in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain web and mobile interfaces using React, React Native, and TypeScript
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and engineering teams to scope and drive projects
• Translate Figma designs into pixel-perfect interfaces
• Add monitoring and error tracking to maintain stability and performance
• Write tests and review merge requests to uphold code quality
• Improve engineering processes including CI/CD
• Demonstrate best practices in implementing frontend functionality

Key requirements

• 4+ years of frontend-focused software engineering experience
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript and React
• Proven collaboration with Designers and Product Managers
• Familiarity with GitLab, Kubernetes, and DevOps practices
• Understanding of distributed systems in a cloud environment
• Experience profiling frontend performance to identify bottlenecks
• Familiarity with Figma and Design-to-Code workflows
• Excellent English communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
• Proficiency with AI-assisted development tools to speed coding, debugging, and documentation
