Overview

In this role you drive the architecture, design, and delivery of advanced autonomy for unmanned aircraft, leading the Hivemind Solutions engineering team. You shape defense autonomy architectures across Group 2 to Group 5 UAS and ensure high-quality, certifiable software and systems. You collaborate with internal R&D and defense programs to deliver impactful autonomous capabilities. This is a strategic, hands-on leadership role with mission-critical impact in defense tech.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Chief Engineer on autonomy projects for unmanned aircraft (Group 2 to Group 5)
  • Lead a team to advance Hivemind Autonomy and shape defense autonomy architectures
  • Define and assign technical objectives, make key engineering decisions, ensure deliverables are complete and of high quality
  • Provide technical leadership and oversight across IRAD initiatives and defense contracts

Key requirements

  • 10+ years in autonomy and/or UAS platforms (defense tech, self-driving tech, etc.)
  • 7+ years delivering software into production/certifiable environments with high reliability
  • Understand guidance, navigation and control (GNC)
  • Understand robotics stack (controls, estimation, perception, planning)
  • Experience with software development processes and deployment to production
  • Experience defining technical scope, managing requirements, architectures and ICDs
  • Proven problem solving with a scientific approach
  • Customer-facing engineering leadership for defense and internal programs
  • Contribute to government contract proposals
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Excellent leadership, managing a team of 6–20 engineers
