NQ Solicitor or Solicitor – EL/PL

Overview

In this role you will manage a mixed caseload of defendant EL/PL and PI claims, support partners on high-value matters, and advise insurers and corporate clients. You will draft, prepare for court, and negotiate settlements while maintaining strong client relationships. You’ll stay current on catastrophic injury and insurance law developments and contribute to the Birmingham Major Injury & Casualty team’s growth in a collaborative, inclusive environment.

Responsibilities

• Handle a mixed caseload of defendant fast-tack and multi-track EL/PL and PI claims
• Assist Partners and Senior Associates on high-value, complex cases
• Advise insurers and corporate clients on liability, quantum, and litigation strategy
• Draft pleadings and court documents; prepare for hearings; conduct settlement negotiations
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships through excellent service
• Stay updated on developments in catastrophic injury and insurance law

Key requirements

• 1–3 years PQE (newly qualified to experienced Solicitor)
• Demonstrable experience in Employer’s Liability (EL), Public Liability (PL), and Personal Injury
• Experience handling defendant PI cases, independently or with senior team support
• Previous experience in a defendant insurance law firm
• Ability to manage a personal caseload; strong communication and attention to detail
