Lead Manufacturing Engineer – Configuration

Overview

As Lead Manufacturing Engineer – Configuration, you will drive configuration management and data control across Magellan sites. You will manage the Bills of Material and change processes for spares supporting fluctuating production rates, partnering with ERP systems. You’ll participate in Change Control Boards and Technical Review Boards to identify changes and impacts, ensuring accurate ‘As Maintained’ data for programs and customer demands. You’ll lead a small configuration team, shaping documentation and processes to enable reliable information transfer. This role offers scope to influence manufacturing data integrity and cross-site collaboration within a global aerospace business.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing quotations and planning tasks
• Serve as the technical input point into the ERP system
• Develop feasible design/engineering solutions where precedents do not exist
• Manage the change board and coordinate all participants
• Ensure contract review supports customer expectations
• Generate and maintain shop floor documentation
• Oversee maintenance and changes to shop floor documentation
• Lead the configuration team to meet schedules and documentation
• Advise engineering staff via the works query note process
• Support new parts development and product introduction through data evaluation
• Manage electronic data transfer between Magellan, customers, and suppliers
• Ensure adherence to standards and procedures
• Manage first article data and support documentation in production
• Train operational personnel on new standards and procedures, including VA’s and routings
• Liaise with external customers to align practices with product requirements

Key requirements

• HNC / Degree in relevant discipline
• Min 10 years of production and Engineering experience in aerospace
• CAD experience in Catia V5
• Experience of ERP systems
• Experience of configuration and change management
• Experience of engineering change control on a complex programme
