Local Government Solicitor

Overview

In this role you will manage fast-track (and potentially multi-track) casualty claims within the Local Government team. You’ll run day-to-day case work, liaise with clients and opponents, and support senior fee earners with research, drafting, and court preparation. You contribute to the team’s growth while meeting financial targets and maintaining high-quality advocacy and client service. This role sits at a leading national firm known for its casualty and defendant litigation strengths, offering exposure to public sector claims and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Handle or assist on predominantly PI, EL/PL, Highways claims (plus potential property damage, social care and data protection)
• Assist senior fee earners with case management, legal research, witness statement drafting, client reports, and court preparation
• Attend client meetings and court hearings
• Respond promptly to client and party inquiries with/without supervision
• Achieve set financial and chargeable targets
• Support the team’s business development activities
• Perform other duties within the wider remit of the role

• Experience handling or assisting EL/PL files or casualty claims

• Experience of handling own caseload

• Good IT, time management, organisation, attention to detail
