Software Engineer III – Backend Engineer – Chase UK

Overview

In this role you will help deliver a seamless digital banking experience as part of Chase UK within the International Consumer Bank. You will join a diverse, distributed team and contribute to cloud-native microservices that power customer journeys. You’ll shape scalable, secure software, participate in end-to-end lifecycle support, and help ensure high availability and performance. Responsibilities

• Contribute to end-to-end cloud-native microservices solutions using modern technologies
• Apply domain modeling to create strong, business-oriented products
• Structure code for clarity, testability, and evolvability
• Design scalable architectures to avoid single points of failure
• Develop secure code to protect customers and the business
• Investigate and fix issues promptly to prevent recurrence
• Ensure zero-downtime releases and optimized data access
• Monitor performance and reliability, guiding efficient problem-solving
• Keep technologies and patterns up to date across the stack
• Support products through their lifecycle, including production and incident management

Key requirements

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and applied experience
• Recent hands-on experience as a back-end software engineer
• Experience coding in a recent version of Java
• Experience in designing and implementing tests (unit, component, integration, end-to-end, performance)
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
• Understanding of cloud technologies, distributed systems, RESTful APIs and web technologies
• Familiarity with relational data stores
