Project Engineering Lead

Overview

In this role you will lead multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver next‑generation defence systems for UK and export customers. You’ll work with project managers and IPTs to plan, execute and monitor milestones, costs and performance, while addressing risks and opportunities. You will contribute across the full system lifecycle—from requirements and development through integration and in‑service support. This is a hands‑on leadership role in a cutting‑edge land CEMA portfolio that shapes electromagnetic warfare capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead a multidisciplinary engineering team to deliver outputs within time, cost and performance targets
• Develop clear engineering plans with milestones and risk/opportunity interdependencies
• Monitor progress and adapt plans to mitigate risks to cost/schedule/performance
• Prepare monthly engineering status reports for Head of Engineering Projects
• Coordinate engineering inputs into bids and proposals during the business‑winning process
• Represent Engineering in IPT meetings and cross‑functional reviews

Key requirements

• Degree in an engineering or related science subject (essential)
• Experience leading multi‑disciplinary engineering teams with budget/schedule responsibility (essential)
• Strong understanding of engineering lifecycles and processes (essential)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills (essential)
• Experience developing hardware electronics, firmware, mechanical and software products (essential)
• Experience with EW and/or communications systems (highly desirable)
• Experience collaborating with external partners and suppliers (desirable)
• Experience in defence or aerospace industry (desirable)
