Cost Controller

Overview

In this role you support the project finance function to track and report project costs, providing financial insight to operational and commercial stakeholders. You will partner with project teams to monitor costs, support audits, and deliver timely cost reports. Your work underpins financial performance targets while enabling cross-functional collaboration across Finance, Commercial, HR and project groups. This position offers exposure to cost allocation, forecasting, and governance in a dynamic project environment.

Responsibilities

• Support project teams with cost queries, providing analysis and financial insight
• Assist Commercial with accurate cost allocation and weekly cost reports
• Conduct variance analysis comparing actual costs to forecasts and budgets
• Monitor and track project costs to meet financial performance targets
• Support Senior Finance Manager and Commercial Lead with ad hoc analysis and reporting
• Collaborate with project teams to facilitate monthly and quarterly audits with cost samples
• Build relationships with stakeholders across Finance, Commercial, HR and Project teams
• Liaise with suppliers, contractors and client representatives for project and audit needs
• Perform additional duties and project support as required by Senior Finance Manager

• Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to engage stakeholders at all levels
• Proactive problem-solving mindset and drive for continuous improvement
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Experience with Oracle R12 or similar finance systems is advantageous but not essential
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites
• Interest in understanding Oracle R12 CVR processes and the link between commercial and financial reporting
