System Safety and Environmental Engineer

Overview

In this role you drive safety design and certification for IAS products, guiding hazard analysis and safety case development. You lead S&EM activities within bids and projects, ensuring risk is reduced and safety requirements are met. You provide direction to design teams to build robust safety arguments and maintain compliance with S&EM processes. The position sits in an Integrated Project Team, contributing to lifecycle safety and environmental considerations. Responsibilities

• Lead S&EM design activities within an Integrated Project Team following the IAS safety management system.
• Perform hazard analysis, risk evaluation, and specify S&E requirements across performance, engineering features, interfacing and testing.
• Communicate safety arguments to all disciplines to ensure inclusion of S&E measures to meet S&EM requirements.
• Maintain compliance with S&EM processes and procedures.
• Stay informed on relevant S&E standards and regulations and ensure adherence in IAS.
• Plan and estimate the cost of project S&EM activities.
• Prepare hazard analysis reports and safety cases, and develop valid safety arguments.

Key requirements

• Experience in a safety engineering role within an engineering environment.
• Experience of leading safety engineering related activities.
• Working knowledge of product safety standards and legislation.
• Knowledge of product safety engineering and environmental management practices.
• Experience of working within an airworthiness environment.
