Archaeologist

Overview

In this Archaeologist role, you support Stantec’s environmental consulting practice by driving cultural resource assessments and regulatory compliance. You will develop proposals, coordinate investigations, and manage permitting across Midwest projects, guided by a Senior Archaeologist. The position blends office work with field involvement and travel to client sites. You contribute to shaping compliant, field-tested solutions for utilities, transportation, and renewable energy projects. Responsibilities

• Develop and write technical proposals, including scope, budgets, and schedules
• Navigate permitting processes and provide regulatory guidance
• Coordinate cultural resource investigations across sectors (utilities, transportation, renewables, local government) under Senior Archaeologist
• Participate in Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) initiatives

Key requirements

• Experience with all phases of archaeological investigation and documentation
• Proficiency in digital data collection methods and GIS (ESRI Field Maps, Survey123)
• Proven proposal writing and project execution capabilities
• Strong knowledge of cultural resource permitting and regulatory frameworks
• Experience managing projects in utilities, transportation, or renewable energy sectors
• Track record of project delivery and team leadership
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to build client relationships
• Willingness to work outdoors and travel between project sites; valid driver’s license with clean record
