Senior Signalling Project Engineer

Overview

In this role you will oversee design, installation and testing outputs for signalling projects, ensuring milestones are met within a railway environment. You will coordinate with internal and client teams to capture requirements and allocate resources, including contractors and equipment. You may serve as Contractors Engineering Manager (CEM) or Contractors Responsible Engineer (CRE) as needed, and lead on signalling-led projects. This is a hands-on leadership position that shapes project delivery and safety compliance in a high-stakes network setting.

Responsibilities

• Manage outputs from Design, Installation and Testing teams to meet programme milestones
• Liaise with internal project and client teams to ensure requirements are understood and followed
• Coordinate resources (agency, subcontractors, equipment, material, documentation)
• Act as CEM and/or CRE when required
• On signalling-led projects, take on the role of Lead Project Engineer

Key requirements

• Extensive experience of railway design, construction and test with knowledge of signalling principles
• HNC in Engineering
• PTS (Personal Track Safety)
• Emergency Fire and First Aid training
• IRSE Licences are desirable(advantageous) and potential additional qualifications like IRSE workplace and Competence Assessor
• Ability to manage resources and coordinate contractors and equipment
