Head of Engineering and Risk Management

Overview

In this role you influence delivery excellence for the BBC account by aligning technical services with policy, standards, and sustainability goals. You will govern asset management, risk, and compliance while partnering with senior stakeholders to shape strategic plans and investment. You’ll drive lifecycle and carbon-reduction initiatives, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient FM operations across multiple sites. This is a chance to lead with integrity, scale best practices, and impact transformational asset strategies.

Responsibilities

• Provide account-level technical stewardship aligned to EMCOR UK policies and industry standards
• Oversee Level 1–2 assurance activities and support Level 3 assurance programmes; lead audits and root-cause analysis
• Develop and implement an Asset Management strategy aligned with BBC requirements
• Ensure maintenance standards and asset change management (SFG20-based) and compliance
• Lead the annual Capital Plan development including LCAM, Carbon & Energy, workplace maintenance
• Manage senior client stakeholder relations and support business case development for growth
• Identify opportunities for self-delivery and drive adoption of best practices across accounts
• Collaborate with Central Asset Management to roll out Asset Dynamics toolkit
• Contribute to lifecycle investment plans, asset optimization, and carbon reduction pathways
• Advise on technical risk and asset condition to support financial planning and KPIs
• Align technical delivery with commercial commitments and sector transformation programmes
• Direct Line Management for the BBC Account roles: Asset Manager, Capital Plan Manager, Energy & Sustainability Manager, Lead Technical SM

Key requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent
• Chartered Engineer or working towards; recognized professional body (e.g., IET, IMechE)
• Proven multi-site technical leadership experience
• Extensive experience in compliance-led FM services, asset management and project integration
• Working knowledge of CAFM/CMMS systems, digital maintenance tools, and engineering planning platforms
• Strong understanding of safety, risk management, legislation, and ISO standards
• Experience with quality management systems (ISO9001) and HSE compliance
• Ability to interpret and provide authoritative technical management advice
• Experience informing businesses on best practice technical management
• Excellent writing, editing, analytical and organizational skills
• IT literacy: Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Smartsheets, Visio
