Senior Chartered Building Surveyor

Overview

As a Senior Building Surveyor, you will lead refurbishment and improvement projects across multiple sectors, coordinating feasibility studies, specifications, and contract administration. You will interpret and apply building contracts (JCT, NEC, etc.) while delivering professional surveying services including dilapidations, party walls, and fire safety assessments. You will embed quality, safety, and environmental considerations in project delivery and mentor junior staff, including APC support. This role offers cross-sector impact and opportunities to shape project outcomes at scale.

Responsibilities

• Lead refurbishment, modernisation and improvement projects across multiple sectors
• Conduct feasibility studies, prepare specifications, secure statutory consents, oversee contract administration
• Apply building contracts (JCT, NEC) within projects
• Deliver surveying services including dilapidations, party wall matters, fire safety assessments, access audits
• Embed quality, safety and environmental considerations in delivery
• Mentor Assistant and Graduate Building Surveyors, including APC support

Key requirements

• MRICS/Chartered Surveyor status
• Strong technical expertise in building surveying with substantial experience
• Proven ability to manage projects, clients and budgets with commercial awareness
• Experience mentoring or supervising junior colleagues
• Confident in drafting technical documentation including specifications, feasibility studies and reports
