Design Manager – Build / Construction

Overview

As Design Manager, you will lead the design management for tendered projects and on-site execution, coordinating design consultants and sub-contractors to ensure timely, accurate information. You will mentor design coordinators and govern design delivery within the project team, aligning with contract requirements and the Employer’s/Contractor proposals. Your role includes chairing design meetings and guiding information production to support construction. This is a senior role in a major UK contracting business, offering impact across pre-construction and construction phases.

Responsibilities

• Manage design consultants, sub-consultants, and design sub-contractors to ensure timely design information delivery for on-site works
• Mentor and oversee design coordinators across projects
• Input to Employers Requirement/Contractor Proposal Compatibility
• Support Design Coordinator during construction phase
• Chair and minute design meetings; oversee information production aligned with design
• Coordinate design delivery with client procurement routes and pre-construction activities

Key requirements

• Understanding of client procurement routes
• Experience at pre-construction stage
• Knowledge of D&B contracts
• Commercial awareness
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• Experience with View Point for Projects (4Projects)
• Minimum six years’ construction industry experience
