Overview
In this hands-on role, you will actively uphold high installation standards across regional sites as a technically qualified electrician. You will inspect completed installations, coach installation teams, and handle defects and customer callbacks to protect quality and regulatory accreditation. Collaborating with the Compliance Manager, you’ll provide evidence and assessments to support quality, compliance, and audits. You will lead investigations into escalations and contribute to continuous improvement of installation quality and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Own the post-installation quality control process, including standards, sampling, sign-off, and remediation
- Perform on-site inspections across regional subsidiaries for electrical compliance and workmanship
- Define and uphold installation quality standards across crews and projects
- Investigate defects, callbacks, and technical issues; identify root causes and corrective actions
- Analyze recurring quality issues and feedback to installation teams and leadership
- Maintain installer performance records; coach underperformers or recommend removal from approved lists
- Lead on-site investigations into escalated customer complaints, warranty disputes, or workmanship incidents
- Serve as senior escalation point for technical site visits or expert assessments
- Provide technical findings, site evidence, and assessments to support compliance and accreditation functions
- Collaborate with Compliance Manager to support audits, investigations, and accreditation activities
- Ensure installation standards are maintained and proactively address risks to customer satisfaction, compliance, or accreditation status
Key requirements
- Qualified electrician with relevant certifications (e.g. 18th Edition, City & Guilds 2391 or equivalent)
- Strong technical knowledge of solar PV, battery storage, and electrical systems
- Experience in quality control, site inspections, or similar roles in solar/renewable energy
- Ability to assess installation quality on-site, identify defects, and advise on standards and best practice
- Experience investigating technical issues, defects, customer complaints, or workmanship disputes
- Ability to work across multiple sites and build relationships without direct line management
- Analytical, methodical problem-solving with root-cause analysis and evidence-based decisions
- Willingness to travel regularly across the South East to regional offices and customer sites
