As Senior Staff Engineer, you drive the Body, Closures & Chassis vehicle program from concept to production, aligning technical direction with program milestones. You will bridge high-level program goals with hands-on engineering execution across BIW, doors, glazing, suspension, and related systems, partnering with internal teams and external suppliers. You balance performance, cost, quality, and manufacturability while advancing risk mitigation and long-term engineering solutions. Responsibilities
- Serve as program and technical lead across Body, Closures, and Chassis; coordinate internal and supplier design teams
- Oversee BOM integrity and approve critical build processes
- Drive quality and cost engineering initiatives across the supply chain for major assemblies
- Develop program schedules and collaborate with suppliers, quality, procurement, service, manufacturing, and engineering teams to close complex issues
- Communicate program progress, engineering challenges, and technical risks; develop strategic mitigation plans
- Lead root-cause analysis and tracking of build/design issues affecting performance, quality, and production readiness
- Influence system designs to optimize performance, cost, quality, manufacturability, and serviceability via design reviews, DFMEAs, validation, and manufacturing mock-builds
Key requirements
- B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related technical discipline
- 12+ years of automotive engineering experience with focus on Body, Closures or Chassis design and project management
- Proficiency with CATIA V5/V6, PLM/BOM management, FMEA/FTA, 8D, Fishbone
- Experience with project management tools (JIRA, Confluence, Polarion, Gantt charts, ERP, PLM, ALM)
- Experience designing for crash, NVH, reliability, strength, and corrosion
- Proven track record managing complex cross-functional projects and external design suppliers/contract manufacturers
- End-to-end New Product Introduction (NPI) experience
- Strong collaboration and communication across peers, suppliers, manufacturing, and executive management
