Fund Accountant – Hedge Funds Quant

Overview

In this role, you will own and enhance a Portfolio Management system, performing first-principles calculations for multi-asset portfolios. You’ll work with top asset managers, onboarding clients and implementing features that improve risk, returns, and cash management. You’ll combine analytical problem-solving with technical development to simplify complex processes. The opportunity emphasizes ownership, collaboration, and driving scalable solutions within a hedge fund software context.

Responsibilities

• Own and manage a Portfolio Management system including calculations
• Apply portfolio management concepts from first principles (e.g., equalisation, rollups, side pockets, cash reconciliation, dividends, currency hedging, gates, return and risk attribution)
• Engage with administrators, custodians, and institutional trading platforms
• Act as SME during onboarding of new clients for the Portfolio Management system
• Define implementation requirements and drive development of new features
• Demonstrate ability to write or contribute to calculations in Excel/VBA/C# or other languages
• Independently manage multiple projects across different scales
• Communicate complex ideas clearly and concisely to stakeholders

Key requirements

• Bachelor in Finance or Economics or similar
• Minimum 6 years’ experience
• Experience calculating multi-asset class portfolios from first principles
• Proficiency in Excel and VBA; experience with Pivot Tables
• Experience with Hedge Fund, Long Only Funds, ETFs, Fixed Income & Equities; Private Equities advantageous
• Knowledge of Equalisation, Rollups, Side Pockets,Cash Reconciliation, Dividends, Currency Hedging, Gates, Return and Risk Attributions
• Curious, analytical mindset with problem-solving abilities
• Interest in technology and simplifying complex processes
• Self-starter with ability to work independently and in a team
• Strong communication skills in English (written and spoken)
• Proven track record of prioritising and delivering under time pressure
• Willingness to take ownership and deliver impact
