Senior Software Engineer

Overview

As a Senior Software Engineer in Medtronic Digital Technologies, you will develop modern C++ software for intra-operative devices, focusing on reliability and maintainability. You’ll work across multidisciplinary teams to extend device software and enable edge computing, cloud connectivity, and secure-by-design solutions. This role supports high-impact surgical devices, with emphasis on testing, security, and regulatory alignment. You will contribute to a connected ecosystem that improves patient care at scale.

Responsibilities

• Develop enhancements for existing intra-operative devices
• Own maintainability and reliability of application software for current and next-generation devices
• Develop software stack for intra-operative devices, including edge and cloud connectivity
• Maintain and enhance device monitoring and cloud connectivity
• Investigate and resolve issues reported from testing and support
• Participate in security and regulatory compliance processes
• Develop robust, secure-by-design software for medical-grade systems
• Occasional on-site work at London office (2 days per week)

Key requirements

• BS/MS in Computer, Electrical, Electronics Engineering or equivalent
• 2–3 years of relevant industry experience
• Proficient in modern C++ (C++17+) and Unix/Linux
• Experience with IPC frameworks (gRPC, DDS, Zenoh)
• Experience with deployed hardware systems and remote device management
• Unit testing using TDD with Google Test or similar
• Independent problem solver who can handle complexity
• Strong code craftsmanship and quality focus
