Senior Cost Engineer – Project Controls – Energy Projects

Overview

You will drive cost management and control across varied, major capital projects in a nuclear-focused energy division. Working within a supportive team, you’ll build robust project controls and deliver accurate financial reporting to aid governance and decision-making. You’ll connect cost, schedule, risk and scope to identify trends and drive continuous improvement. This role offers meaningful impact in a client-facing, highly regulated environment with cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Implement and continuously improve cost control systems and procedures
• Develop and align Cost Breakdown Structures (CBS) with Work Breakdown Structures (WBS)
• Support budgets, cost plans and forecasts; monitor commitments and expenditure
• Ensure accurate cost capture via PO/WOs alignment and cost structures
• Validate contractor cost data to improve forecasting and reporting quality
• Lead accruals management and cost reporting accuracy
• Apply Earned Value Management (EVM) and support PMB establishment
• Produce cost performance reports and management information for leadership
• Lead forecast reviews and ETC/EAC reporting; support change governance and baselines
• Collaborate with Project Managers, Commercial teams and Supply Chain to manage costs
• Present cost forecasts and recommendations to stakeholders; challenge estimates where needed

Key requirements

• Demonstrable experience in Cost Engineering, Cost Control or Project Controls on major capital projects
• Strong knowledge of cost management, forecasting and reporting methodologies
• Experience applying Earned Value Management (EVM) principles
• Experience with cost variance analysis, performance reporting and forecasting
• Understanding of project controls processes including change control and governance
• Experience with WBS, CBS and PMB
• Ability to interpret complex project data for decision-making
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
• Excellent analytical, organizational and problem-solving abilities
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
