Overview
In this role you support the EMEA accounting function, focusing on UK, Bulgarian, and German entities, with responsibilities across journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end activities. You will collaborate across time zones and contribute to process improvements in the monthly close, while supporting audits and internal controls. The position blends hands-on accounting work with cross-functional, cross-border coordination in a hybrid setup that requires weekly travel to Edinburgh. You’ll grow through exposure to diverse financial processes and the company’s expanding EMEA footprint.
Responsibilities
- Prepare journal entries for allocated areas
- Allocate company-wide and company-specific expenses via journal entries
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and analyse month-over-month variances in P&L accounts
- Prepare monthly expense accrual analyses
- Prepare statistical submissions
- Communicate across time zones to build positive working relationships
- Identify and implement process improvements in the monthly close
- Support external audits and uphold internal controls
- Perform other duties as assigned
Key requirements
- Degree in Accounting and/or 3+ years of relevant experience
- Strong planning and organisational skills with prioritisation ability
- Knowledge of VAT, including coding invoices and expenses for VAT
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness to take responsibility
- Strong analytical ability, attention to detail, and proficiency in Excel
- Legally eligible to work in the UK on an ongoing basis
