Senior Geo-Environmental Engineer

Overview

As a Senior Geo-Environmental Engineer in Manchester, you will lead and grow our geo-environmental offering within a multidisciplinary practice. You’ll apply technical expertise across infrastructure, water frameworks, heritage and defence projects, guiding Phase 1 and Phase 2 site investigations and remedial strategies. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver safe, timely projects and mentor junior staff. This role provides impact across the North West and supports shaping our environmental services.

Responsibilities

• Provide geotechnical and/or contaminated land advice to multi-professional teams
• Ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and on time
• Manage site investigation contracts
• Design and supervise Phase 1 and Phase 2 ground investigations
• Undertake geotechnical design and/or prepare GQRA and DQRA and remedial strategies
• Support the wider environmental team across various technical projects

Key requirements

• A relevant degree in Engineering, Geology, Geography or a related scientific discipline
• Chartered status, or working towards a professional qualification (e.g. CGeol, CSci, CIWEM, IEMA or ICE)
• Experience managing geo-environmental and ground investigation projects
• Experience preparing Phase 1 Geo-Environmental Desk Studies and Phase 2 Site Investigation Reports
• Experience undertaking GQRA, alongside DQRA or geotechnical design
• Experience managing site investigation contractors in accordance with CDM 2015
• Ability to mentor and support junior team members
