Health & Safety Manager – Roofing, Facades, Construction

Overview

You will lead health, safety and environmental performance on on-site projects for a growing contractor. Based in Milton Keynes with regular site travel, you’ll shape HSE standards across construction, M&E, small works and refurbishment. You’ll advise directors and project teams, investigate incidents, and promote a strong safety culture. Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Health & Safety Policy in line with HSWA 1974, CDM 2015, EaWR 1989, PUWER, LOLER, COSHH and Working at Height Regulations
• Ensure compliance with ISO 45001 and client safety requirements
• Provide specialist advice to directors, project teams and site staff
• Lead accident and incident investigations including root cause analysis and RIDDOR reporting
• Prepare and review RAMS for construction, M&E and small works
• Carry out site inspections and audits, ensuring actions are completed
• Support pre-construction planning and design risk assessments
• Liaise with Principal Contractors and Principal Designers
• Oversee subcontractor safety including competency checks and inductions
• Deliver toolbox talks, inductions and H&S training
• Promote a positive safety culture across commercial and industrial sites
• Maintain training matrices, accident logs, inspection reports and compliance registers
• Produce monthly reports including KPIs, trends and improvement actions
• Manage H&S input for tenders and PQQs

Key requirements

• NEBOSH National Diploma or NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate
• Strong knowledge of UK H&S legislation for construction and M&E
• Experience as a Health and Safety Manager or Advisor in construction or engineering
• Strong understanding of CDM 2015
• Experience preparing RAMS, conducting audits and leading investigations
• Confident communicator with the ability to influence site teams
• Full UK driving licence
