Overview
In this role you will shape Web Summit’s visibility in Chinese-speaking markets by engaging Mandarin-speaking journalists and media outlets. You’ll identify resonant stories, build cross-border media relationships, and position speakers, partners and tech narratives in Chinese media. You will collaborate with global teams to ensure China-focused coverage across channels and events, leveraging social platforms and data tools to maximise impact. This is a fast-paced, strategy-driven role at a world-leading tech conference business with a strong regional focus.

Responsibilities
- Identify compelling stories and build relationships with journalists across Chinese markets
- Coordinate media opportunities and position Web Summit across Chinese media ecosystem
- Manage content for WeChat, Xiaohongshu, Weibo, Douyin, Bilibili and other channels
- Own content tracks and become an expert on the relevant media outlets and individuals
- Utilise AI and data tools to improve efficiency and maintain records on Salesforce
- Convince top media professionals to speak at events or chair talks with high-profile speakers
- Develop and execute coverage planning strategies with top-tier media outlets before events
Key requirements
- Native Mandarin speaker fluent in English
- Strong understanding of Chinese media landscape and tech/business ecosystem
- Familiar with WeChat, Weibo, Douyin, Xiaohongshu, Zhihu and other Chinese platforms
- Creative, articulate communicator with excellent presentation and interpersonal skills
- Able to work under tight deadlines and at pace in a global events environment
- Strategic thinker with proven long-term planning, execution and evaluation experience
- Team player with ability to work independently
- Proficient in using AI tools and data for work management
- Experience in dealing with media (journalist, PR, or marketing functions)
