Overview
In this role you lead the Transportation underwriting function, directing profitable growth and development of US Transportation portfolios across in-house and delegated authorities. You collaborate closely with the Head of Direct Underwriting to execute the strategic plan and ensure strong client/broker relationships. You will drive underwriting performance, expand product coverage, and enhance digital capabilities. Responsibilities
- Provide overall leadership and management of the in-house Transportation underwriting department
- Mentor and develop team members and foster cross-collaboration across Munich Re groups
- Implement Continuous Conversations principles in daily leadership and development
- Optimize underwriting performance and processes for Transportation
- Develop annual business plan with Head of Direct Underwriting and monitor progress
- Maintain client and broker relationships and explore new business opportunities
- Manage department travel program and industry engagement
- Propose new wordings/clauses and develop new coverages reflecting market needs
- Advance digital capabilities in Transportation underwriting
- Produce regular management and committee reports
- Data Governance duties including supporting Data Owner and overseeing Data Asset Register
- Ensure data protection compliance and controls with Data Protection Officer and Legal/Compliance
- Adhere to Binding Authorities policies and maintain regulatory alignment
Key requirements
- Experience leading a transportation underwriting team or equivalent leadership role
- Ability to analyze underwriting data and inform decision-making
- Stakeholder management and client/broker relationship development
- Knowledge of data governance and regulatory/compliance considerations
